After claiming its second consecutive Asian Le Mans success at Fuji in September, KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) is primed for a new challenge as it heads to its home track for the Asian series’ much-anticipated penultimate round at Zhuhai International Circuit on October 13. Jordan Oon, Gary Thompson and James Winslow will represent the international motorsport group in its effort to secure its third straight win this season.

Irish ace Gary Thompson teamed up with James Winslow in August, scoring KCMG’s first triumph in the Asian sports car endurance racing series. For Asian Le Mans’ forthcoming event, Australian driver Jordan Oon is confirmed to join the two top racers in Zhuhai.

Oon has competed in prestigious motor racing competitions across Asia and Europe; notably winning the title in Formula Pilota China Masters in 2011. Last year, he has taken five podiums from eight rounds in the Copa Class of Euro F3 Open, ultimately capping off his rookie European season with an impressive fifth place.

KCMG will run the Murphy Prototypes’ Oreca-Nissan LMP2 in Asian Le Mans’ third event as the team’s blue and white Morgan-Nissan prototype is staying in Japan in preparation for FIA World Endurance Championship’s 6 Hours of Fuji which will be held on October 20.

After dominating in South Korea and Japan, KCMG takes the top spot in Asian Le Mans’ overall standings. The team aims to maintain its winning streak in China and to conclude the season as the series’ overall champion.

Jordan Oon, KCMG Asian Le Mans Driver: “I’m very excited to drive for KCMG in the Asian Le Mans Series.  Being the current leaders of the championship, it is a great opportunity to compete with a race-winning team, and get vital experience in the LMP2 category.  Looking forward, I would love to run in the Le Mans 24 Hours race in the future, and with KCMG already having competed in this in the past, it is definitely a great opportunity and relationship to build.”

Gary Thompson, KCMG Asian Le Mans Driver: “I’m really looking forward to racing in Asian Le Mans next weekend. It will be great to be back in the series after winning the opening round in Inje. We hope to maintain KCMG’s 100% record in Asian Le Mans. There will be some new challenges for all of us this weekend as we will be using a different car for the 3 Hours of Zhuhai, so this will be a new experience for the whole team.”

James Winslow, KCMG Asian Le Mans Driver: “I’m very happy to be back with KCMG for the third straight race, we will be looking to secure another good result in Zhuhai and build on our current strong position in the championship standings. It will be great driving with Gary and Jordan having driven with them both previously.”

Paul Ip, KCMG Managing Director: “We’ve reached the third round of Asian Le Mans on top of the series standings and our aim is to remain consistent and stay as the number one team in the field.  We are very much looking forward to compete on our home track at Zhuhai this weekend and we hope to make all our followers across the world proud by claiming our third successive Asian Le Mans win!”
