KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) travels to the United Kingdom this week for FIA World Endurance Championship’s (WEC) highly anticipated season opener at the iconic Silverstone Circuit. The fourth edition of WEC, which will officially commence on Wednesday, highlights a ten-car grid for the LMP2 class this year. Meanwhile, the upcoming 6 Hours of Silverstone underlines the new ORECA 05’s WEC race debut following a promising pre-season roll out.

After topping the LMP2 timesheets in WEC’s two-day pre-season test last month, the Hong Kong based squad is keen to maintain the strong form that they displayed at Circuit Paul Ricard. Richard Bradley, Matt Howson and Nick Tandy will share the Dunlop shod #47 ORECA 05 Nissan package in the world championship’s first six-hour round at the legendary Northampshire track.

KCMG scored its first WEC podium finish at Silverstone in the ORECA 03 last season. This year, the team returns to the world-class motorsport venue with intentions of making a strong start to the championship’s eight-race calendar with a new car and a formidable driver line up. Moreover, the British trio of Bradley, Howson and Tandy is determined to challenge for LMP2 victory in a venue that they all personally call home.

Richard Bradley: “After an encouraging test at the Prologue, I’m even more excited for Silverstone! I will be in our beautiful ORECA 05 in front of my home crowd and we will give it our best to finish on top of the podium.”

Matt Howson: “I’m very much looking forward to the opening race of the 2015 WEC season and my home event. The weather can be unpredictable and it’s the first race for the ORECA 05, so we’re set for an exciting race this weekend. The LMP2 field is competitive this year, but we are confident that we can fight at the front and start strong this season.”

Nick Tandy: “Like the rest of the team, I can’t wait to get this new season started, but its certainly not going to be easy. We made a good start at the Ricard test with how our speed compares to our competitors, however endurance racing and WEC is so much more than just about your outright speed. Silverstone being the UK round of the WEC is an important race for Matt, Richard, myself and many of the team and we’re all heading there full of confidence.

Erich Kolb, KCMG WEC Team Manager: “The team delivered impressive lap times during the pre-season test at Paul Ricard but Silverstone will be the first real challenge for the team and the new car. The team has worked very hard to prepare for WEC’s opening round and hoping that all these efforts will produce race-winning results by the end of the week.”

WEC’s opening event gets underway on Friday, where teams will have two 90minute practice sessions. LMP Qualifying will be held the following day at 12h30 local after the final practice run. The 6 Hours of Silverstone will start at 12h00 on Sunday. To know more about the FIA World Endurance Championship, please visit: www.fiawec.com
