Following their dramatic outing which saw an anticlimactic end at Nurburgring in July, KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) is primed to seal FIA World Endurance Championship’s fifth round in Mexico City on a high note. Represented by Chris Ried, Wolf Henzler and Joel Camathias, the Hong Kong-based outfit is primed to take on a new challenge at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez this weekend.

The #78 Porsche 911 RSR shared by Ried, Henzler and Camathias topped the collective test on Thursday morning and went on to complete Free Practice 1 and 2 in fifth and sixth place. While Henzler has raced at the famed 4.304 km Mexican circuit, which highlights an elevation of 2,285m, it will be Ried and Camathias’ first time to compete in the arduous motorsport venue.

Wolf Henzler: “I was here in 2007 the last time and since them the track has got new asphalt and some corner has been changed. But all of them are positive changes. The car in the test session was good, grip level and balance as well even if the track was a bit dusty this morning. It’s great that WEC has an event here in Mexico City even if you can feel the altitude of more than 2,200m. – the engine gets less air and consequently less power. I’m looking forward to the race.”

Chris Ried: “I’m very happy to be here in Mexico for the first time representing KCMG. The car looks good, so we keep pushing and we look forward to the race.”

Joel Camathias: “The car was very good this morning. Track conditions are changeable here – for sure there will much more grip in the afternoon, so it will be even better. I’m looking forward to the race and enjoy the amazing Mexican crowd.”

The final Practice session and LM GTE Qualifying run takes place on Friday (2 September) with the 6 Hours of Mexico set to start at 13:30 local on Saturday (3 September). To know more about the FIA World Endurance Championship, please visit: www.fiawec.com
