KCMG round off FRD Lmp3 Series season opener with double podium

KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) concluded the opening event of FRD LMP3 Series with laudable drives by Josh Burdon and Neric Wei. The first round of the newly launched Asian prototype series was held at Zhejiang Circuit, China – where the highly anticipated two-race event witnessed the Hong Kong-based outfit clinch a double podium finish.

Josh Burdon’s debut in Le Mans Prototype racing saw him easily adapt to a new machine and posted impressive times throughout the weekend. Meanwhile, Neric Wei- winner of last year’s Asian Le Mans Sprint Cup- did not fail to demonstrate his strong driving skills in the P3.

Donning KCMG’s iconic blue and white livery, the #18 LMP3 qualified tenth and third positions for Race 1 and 2. The opening race saw Burdon get off to a good start and moved several places up the field. However, a red flag was called due to torrential conditions and brought a premature end to the session with KCMG taking third place.

The team returned the following day for the Asian series’ Race 2, with the #18 P3 starting from third position. With dry circuit conditions, Burdon and Wei each delivered strong stints and fiercely fought to take second spot, placing KCMG on the podium for the second time over the weekend.

Josh Burdon: “I’ve was looking forward to this and I’m happy that we wrapped up the weekend with great results. We have a strong team and package, and it’s awesome to team up with a fast bronze driver like Neric.”

Neric Wei: “It’s a great honour to represent KCMG in the FRD LMP3 Series this season and to have Josh as my co-driver. We had a strong weekend at Zhejiang and its only the beginning – we are looking forward to fight for victories in the next events!”
