KCMG reveals LMP3 driver line up for Asian Le Mans Series

KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) has confirmed its return to Asian Le Mans Series’ 2017/2018 grid with an entry in the LMP3 class. Louis Prette, who will represent the Hong Kong-based outfit’s full season campaign in the Asian sports car endurance championship, will share driver duties with KCMG P3 pilots Josh Burdon and Neric Wei.

Josh Burdon and Neric Wei have both driven for KCMG this year in the FRD LMP3 Series. The duo delivered numerous podiums throughout the season and rounded off the series’ thrilling finale with a dominant win in Zhuhai last month. As a result of this victory, Burdon and Wei concluded the Hong Kong outfit’s FRD Series LMP3 campaign as 2017 Vice Champions.

Meanwhile, Prette competed in Asian Formula Renault from 2016-2017 and finished third in the overall drivers classification this season. The young talent is also an accomplished karter and raced in the 2016 CIK FIA Asia Pacific Championship in Macau, where he finished third in the KZ2 finals. Prette also took second place in the 2016 French Regional KZ2 Series and won the WSK X30 in the same year.

The much-anticipated 2017/2018 season of the Asian Le Mans Series highlights a 4-event calendar which will be held in premier circuits around Asia. Apart from Zhuhai International Circuit, the races will be staged at Fuji Speedway, Japan, Buriram International Circuit, Thailand and Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia.

Asian Le Mans organizer, Automobile Club de l’Ouest has announced that the series will be divided into four categories: LMP2, LMP3, GT and GT Cup category. Notably, the series winners in the LMP2, LMP3 and GT class will be awarded entry into the Le Mans 24 Hour race in 2018.

Josh Burdon: I am excited to be back working with KCMG for the 2017/2018 season of Asian Le Mans Series. Myself along with my co-driver Neric and the entire team proved to be a strong, race-winning package in the FRD LMP3 Series this year, so to continue our partnership with the addition of Louis as our third driver gives me confidence and will be ready to push for wins. I’m really looking forward to beginning work with the team.

Louis Prette: I am really looking forward to get started with the 2017/2018 season of Asian Le Mans Series! It’s going to be great to working with KCMG as they have proven in the past that they are very competitive and very professional. I’m also happy to join Neric and Josh, who have both raced together in the FRD LMP3 Series and as we know, is a winning package. Neric has been my team mate in Asian Formula Renault this year, while Josh is my coach. We all know each other very well and that’s a great point for endurance racing. I hope that we can deliver strong results throughout the season and contend for the championship.

Neric Wei: I am honoured to be racing with KCMG for the 2017/2018 season of Asian Le Mans Series. It is a challenging event and I’m pleased to be driving alongside two talented drivers, Josh and Louis. I am looking forward to the races and make more progress in driving with the help of the entire team and co-drivers!
