KIDS COM TEAM KCMG SET FOR 2024 SUPER FORMULA SEASON OPENER AT SUZUKA

Kids com Team KCMG will get their 15th season in Japan’s premier single-seater championship underway this weekend as Super Formula travels to Suzuka International Racing Course.

The team heads into the 2024 season with an exciting driver pairing. Ex-F1 racer and 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Kamui Kobayashi resumes his long-standing relationship with the squad, while Nirei Fukuzumi is set to make his first appearance in Kids com Team KCMG colours.

2019 Super GT champion and 2021 Super Formula runner-up Fukuzumi has strong recent results at Suzuka, winning there in the past in both of Japan’s major racing championships. Kobayashi also has fond memories at the Mie Prefecture venue, having taken a famous podium at the 2012 Japanese Grand Prix.

Unique on the Super Formula calendar as the only figure-of-eight circuit, Suzuka is Japan’s most famous motorsport location. The 5.807-kilometre track features 17 turns, including the famous Esses, Spoon Curve and 130R. The venue will also host the season-ending double-header in November.

#7 KAMUI KOBAYASHI

“I’m excited to begin another season in Super Formula with Kids com Team KCMG. I feel confident in the personnel changes that the squad has made during the winter, and I’m happy to welcome my new teammate, Nirei. Suzuka is a circuit that I always enjoy tackling, and our strong finish in testing there last December leaves me hopeful that we can carry this momentum into Round 1. I would like to thank the team and GAZOO Racing for making this year possible, and I’m looking forward to achieving some positive results together in 2024!”

#8 NIREI FUKUZUMI

“I’m eager to begin my first season as part of Kids com Team KCMG. My goal is to acclimatise myself to the squad and our car this weekend, while achieving the best results possible with the performance available to us. We are aiming high for 2024, looking to build upon last year by scoring consistent points and hopefully taking the team’s first victory. I would like to thank everyone at KCMG and GAZOO Racing for giving me such a warm welcome, and I’m certain that we can create some great memories together in the coming season!”

RYUJI DOI KCMG HEAD OF MOTORSPORT

“The 2024 season is finally beginning, and our focus is purely on fighting at the front and that’s exactly what we’ve been preparing for. Super Formula is an extremely competitive championship with a lot of world-class teams and drivers, but we are hoping for a strong start to the year at Suzuka. We’re looking forward to the race and will give our all to take a positive result.”
