Kids com Team KCMG will be aiming to gather plenty of data in this week’s mid-season test at Fuji Speedway, as they look to build on a promising start to the 2025 Super Formula campaign.
The squad has scored points in every event this season and currently sits sixth in the Teams’ Championship. With four races to come at Fuji, the test will be extremely important for all teams.
Regular driver Nirei Fukuzumi, who finished ninth last time out at Autopolis, will be present at the test, although Kamui Kobayashi misses out due to his commitments with Toyota GAZOO Racing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans Official Test Day.
Two drivers will share duties in the #7 car in place of the two-time WEC champion, with Yuhi Sekiguchi and Rikuto Kobayashi both in action. Seven-time Super Formula race winner Sekiguchi took part in the post-season test for the squad at the end of 2024, while Rikuto Kobayashi recently made his debut in the series at Mobility Resort Motegi, following his runner-up finish in Super Formula Lights last season.
The morning sessions will run from 9:00 local time (UTC+9) until 11:30 on both days, while Friday’s afternoon session is from 14:30-17:00 and Saturday’s is from 14:00-16:30.
#8 NIREI FUKUZUMI
“This marks the second Official Test of the year and it will be a really important one. Bad weather pre-season meant we didn’t get to fully analyse the new tyres, and our performance on long runs remains an issue, so that will be our focus. I’m confident I’ll work well with Yuhi and Rikuto and we can move in a positive direction during the two days.”
#7 YUHI SEKIGUCHI
“I’m looking forward to taking part in the Super Formula test at Fuji Speedway with Kids com Team KCMG. It will be my first time driving a Super Formula car since last year’s post-season test, but I am familiar with the #7 crew and the issues the car is facing. My main target is to improve the long run pace and to find set-up improvements the team can use in the upcoming events.”
#7 RIKUTO KOBAYASHI
“I’m excited to be back in a Super Formula car following my debut at Motegi. A big thank you to Kids com Team KCMG for this opportunity to gain valuable experience. I’m looking forward to working with the team, and will do my best to gather important data that will be useful for the rest of the season.”
