Kids com Team KCMG will be looking to impress on the penultimate weekend of the 2025 Super Formula season this weekend at Fuji Speedway, which hosts a second double-header of the campaign for Rounds 9 and 10.
The outfit heads to the Shizuoka Prefecture in great form after clinching its first podium of the year last time out at Sportsland SUGO, as Nirei Fukuzumi snatched third with a daring late overtake in tricky wet conditions.
Both Fukuzumi and his teammate Kamui Kobayashi enjoyed the first double-header held at the track back in July, as both managed fourth place finishes across the two days. During the 2024 rounds at Fuji Speedway, the squad also delivered two pole positions as well as a second-place finish and a podium.
The outfit currently sits fifth in the Teams’ Championship with just four races to go, as it aims to replicate its best-ever finish of fourth from the 2024 season.
Located in the foothills of Mount Fuji, the circuit’s main feature is one of the longest straights in motorsport. At a length of 1.475 km, overtaking is likely to happen into Turn 1, before a technical lap follows which will test the drivers throughout.
On-track action begins with Free Practice 1 at 11:00 (UTC+9) local time on Friday. Qualifying then takes place at 10:10 on both Saturday and Sunday, with lights out for both rounds at 15:00.
The Kyojo Cup will return this weekend on the support bill of Super Formula as four Kids com Team KCMG entries are all set to battle it out. Miki Onaga will be aiming to replicate her success from the Feature Race in July where she took victory.
Rami Sasaki recorded her best finish of the season in the latest event as she secured second, while Kelsey Pinkowski and Flame Airkkala will be looking to score their first points of the year this weekend.
#7 KAMUI KOBAYASHI
“The aim will be to improve on the results we got here in July as we strive to visit the podium more consistently like we did during 2024. There’s been a long two-month break since the latest round at Sportsland SUGO, so I’m looking forward to racing with the squad again this weekend.”

#8 NIREI FUKUZUMI
“2025 hasn’t been the year I was hoping for in Super Formula, but we were still able to take third last time out. We’ll aim to keep this momentum going into this double-header at a track which we’ve enjoyed previously, looking to take our first victory together as a team.”

RYUJI DOI KCMG HEAD OF MOTORSPORT
“After the last round in Sugo, Katsuhiko Okamoto, our chief tyre technician for car #8, sadly passed away and we’ll have him and his family in our thoughts as we race this weekend. Fuji Speedway is a circuit where we’ve taken two pole positions as well as finishing on the podium with both drivers last year. It’s the team’s home circuit and we’ll aim to achieve the long-awaited first Super Formula victory this weekend. We’ve also got four women competing in the Kyojo Cup, who will be hoping to score strong points for the outfit in Fuji.”
