KCMG set to fight for Formula Pilota title in Sepang

After 5 intense events around the best circuits in Asia, KCMG heads back to Malaysia this week as Sepang International Circuit hosts the closing event of Formula Pilota on December 7-8. Deemed as a title-deciding finale to the series’ 2012 season, Dan Wells is preparing to challenge for the championship crown against Eurasia Motorsport’s Antonio Giovanazzi. Racing alongside Wells this weekend is Malaysian driver Akash Nandy who returns to compete in the series’ culminating event on his home track in Sepang.

Results garnered after the 5th event in Sepang last October has placed the British driver 2nd in overall standings. This week, Wells is focused to dominate all three races, with the aim to secure this year’s championship title. Wells is determined to gain advantage over Giovanazzi by starting strong and finishing on top of the podium throughout the weekend.

To reinforce a strong outing in Sepang, Nandy returns to Formula Pilota’s grid to compete in the finale after a three-month hiatus from motor racing. Nandy drove for KCMG in the series’ 2nd and 3rd events at Ordos International Circuit. The team believes that clinching the championship title can be accomplished with both Wells and Nandy representing KCMG in the season-closing event.

Wells, who moved to Hong Kong this year to pursue his racing career in Asia, has definitely gone a long way this season. The British driver has been consistently on the podium and is set to cap off his first season in an Asian championship with victory. “I’m really looking forward to getting out on circuit for the final championship deciding round. I’m sure that we will make another step around this great F1 circuit and I will do everything to ensure that we leave no stone unturned in the fight for the FPC title.”

Meanwhile, Nandy has been busy gearing up and is eager to be back and race on a circuit that he is most familiar with. “I’ve been looking forward for months to be back in the series and to drive for KCMG. Racing in Sepang this weekend is definitely an advantage as I know this circuit by heart. Hopefully Dan and I will finish each round on top of the podium. I am looking forward to the challenge ahead and I’m definitely giving this my 100%.”

KCMG Deputy Managing Director John O’Hara recognizes that the team will be up for a challenge in securing the title in Sepang. However, O’Hara has confidence in the team and is positive that this final and ultimate event can conclude in victory. “We head to Sepang this week with an objective to triumph despite several challenges. It is going to require great effort but the entire team is working hard to make sure that Dan and Akash will have the proper machines to challenge for wins. We’ve had an interesting season and I’m proud of what the team has accomplished. We’d like to thank everyone who has supported us and have been part of our campaign this year.”
