KCMG READY FOR ACTION AS SUPER FORMULA HEADS SOUTH TO AUTOPOLIS

KC Motorgroup (KCMG) is all set for the third round of the 2026 SUPER FORMULA season this weekend at Autopolis International Racing Course, as the crew looks to build on its performance from the season opener.

Last time out in Motegi, Kenta Yamashita ensured a positive start to the year for the Hong Kong-based outfit, finishing seventh during the second event of the double-header.

As previously announced, his teammate for this weekend’s action will once again be KCMG’s reserve driver Seita Nonaka in the #9 car, after racing for the squad in the opening rounds at Mobility Resort Motegi.

Both have great recent memories at Autopolis, with Yamashita earning a third-place finish in 2025’s SUPER FORMULA race, while Nonaka scored two victories and a further podium when competing there in his 2024 Super Formula Lights campaign.

KCMG also enjoyed a successful outing at the circuit last year, as both drivers lined up on the second row of the grid and scored points during the event.

Autopolis International Racing Course has been ever-present on the calendar of Japan’s premier single-seater championship. The twisting 4.673-kilometre circuit provides a unique challenge for teams and drivers thanks to its altitude and elevation changes, with overtaking likely into Turn 1 after the long start-finish straight.

On-track action gets underway on Saturday with Free Practice from 09:15 local time (UTC+9), before Qualifying begins at 14:15. It’s then lights-out for the 41-lap event from 14:30 on Sunday afternoon.

#8 KENTA YAMASHITA

“The upcoming round at Autopolis will be different from the opener at Motegi as there will be no changes to the track surface. In 2025, both KCMG cars were very fast at Autopolis and I managed to secure third during the same event. This gives me a lot of optimism heading there and I can’t wait to get out on track.”

#9 SEITA NONAKA

“I’m delighted to be racing for KCMG again in Super Formula. We faced some challenges during the first weekend of the season, but I feel more confident each time I drive the car. I’m well prepared for this event and I’ll give it my all to put in a strong performance. Thank you to everyone who has made this opportunity possible.”
