KCMG all set for Super Formula opening in Suzuka

KC Motorgroup Ltd., leading Hong Kong-based motorsport team, heads to Suzuka this week as the 27th season of Super Formula commences on April 13-14. Stepping up from Japanese Formula 3, British rookie Richard Bradley will represent the team this season and aims to challenge for championship points as early as the first round.

Formerly known as Formula Nippon, the highly competitive premier Japanese series will be contested over 7 championship rounds by 11 teams at different circuits around Japan. The first event will be held at the world-famed 5.80km Suzuka Circuit, venue of the Japanese Formula 1 Grand Prix.

The 21 year old British driver is looking forward to his maiden race in Suzuka and anticipates delivering strong results over the weekend. The KCMG Super Formula team has been working round the clock to ensure that Bradley’s Toyota-engined Swift FN09 will be ready and competitive for the inaugural event.

Bradley had two progressive pre-season tests earlier this year in Suzuka and Fuji. The young driver expects that the significant data and momentum gained in both tests will greatly benefit the team this weekend. Bradley states, “I’m very happy the wait is finally over and we have the first round this weekend! I think we as a team have prepared as well as we could have and while I understand it will be a steep learning curve I feel quietly confident that we can have a good result and I can’t wait to get started.

KCMG Japan General Manager Ryuji Doi expressed his satisfaction over Bradley’s pre-season performance and is looking forward to his new driver’s first Super Formula event in Suzuka. Doi-san also stated that the entire KCMG Super Formula team, including race engineer Akinori Kasai were impressed with the potential that Bradley displayed during the pre-season tests. Doi-san was quoted, “The team and I are filled with renewed confidence as we have a good driver representing us. The developments that we’ve made on the car off and pre-season have been massive and Richard has adapted well. It’s been a good start for the team so far and we can’t wait to have Richard on the grid and compete this weekend.”
