KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) has confirmed that Swiss driver Alexandre Imperatori will rejoin the team in 2014 for the 24 Hours of Le Mans and its expanded campaign in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

Imperatori, who led the team in its historic LMP2 debut at Silverstone and Le Mans last year, will represent the Chinese squad alongside Richard Bradley and Matt Howson for five of the eight events of the World Championship this season.

A former KCMG Formula Nippon and All-Japan Formula 3 driver, Imperatori has been involved in the team’s motorsport programs since 2009. Last year, Imperatori’s commanding performance in KCMG’s LMP2 helped the team score a top 6 finish in its WEC debut at Silverstone. The Swiss ace continued to impress at Le Mans as he led the LMP2 class during the initial hours of the race and consistently set best lap times during his stints.

The Swiss driver will be in Spa-Francorchamps for the second round of WEC in May, followed by his return to Circuit de la Sarthe in the team’s new Oreca 03 – Nissan for the French endurance classic in June. Imperatori is also set to compete in the 6-hour rounds at Shanghai, Fuji and Sao Paulo.

Alexandre Imperatori, KCMG WEC Driver: “I am very excited to be back with KCMG this year for an expanded campaign in WEC. Our aim is to build on the experience from last year to fight at the front in LMP2, in WEC and of course, in Le Mans as well. LMP2, at the moment, is extremely competitive with many different technical packages and top drivers involved, so it will be a great challenge. But I’m confident that we are well prepared, with a strong team and good teammates, to represent China successfully on the world stage. My thanks to Paul Ip and everyone at KCMG for having me back. I can’t wait to be in the car again and getting to work with the team!”

Paul Ip, KCMG Managing Director: “Alex’s performance at Silverstone and Le Mans last year left a strong impression on the team and we are happy to have him represent us again in our latest campaign in WEC and Le Mans. He did a good job for us last season, and we want continuity. The team is pleased to welcome Alex back and we are confident that his speed and experience, along with Richard and Matt’s, will further strengthen our competitiveness this season.”
