KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) heads to Suzuka Circuit as the 28th season of Super Formula commences on April 12-13.  The team, represented by 2013 All-Japan Formula 3 champion Yuichi Nakayama, is set for the 43-lap race on Suzuka’s 5.807km F1 circuit this weekend.

The Super Formula rookie wrapped up the final pre-season test at Fuji Speedway in 6th place last month. Following successful test sessions in the Toyota-powered Dallara SF14, Nakayama is aiming to finish his maiden outing in the premier Japanese formula series on top of the timesheets.

The Hong Kong-based team will also unveil its new Super Formula livery, brandishing KCMG’s distinctive blue and white scheme at the series’ season opener this weekend. The opening event at Suzuka will be the first of seven Super Formula rounds, with the season running until November.

Yuichi Nakayama, KCMG Super Formula Driver: “It’s been a long wait since the last test in Fuji and I’m eager to be in the car again. To race at this level with the fastest drivers in Japan is a great opportunity and my goal is to deliver top results for the team throughout the season. The team and I have prepared well for this and we’re hoping to have a strong weekend in Suzuka.”

Ryuji Doi, KCMG Japan General Manager: “We are looking forward to the first Super Formula event this weekend. The team worked hard to develop a competitive car after months of preparation and careful planning. We have a good driver in Yuichi and the team is confident that we’ll have a strong season ahead.”
