KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) is pleased to announce that James Munro will be the recipient of the KCMG Motorsport Scholarship for his distinct achievement in the 2014 season of Formula Masters China Series. After winning this year’s Drivers’ Championship title, the 17-year-old Cebu Pacific Air by KCMG driver will receive a monetary grant to help fund his chosen motorsport initiative for 2015.

The scholarship was established to provide subsidized drives for KCMG drivers who will emerge as winners at the end of the season. As Formula Masters champion, Munro has an option to represent KCMG in the All-Japan Formula 3 Championship with a €100,000 subsidy from the Hong Kong-based outfit. In the event that he decides to pursue a different initiative, a prize of €50,000 will be awarded to the Christchurch driver to kick-start his career in 2015.

In addition to the subsidy, the scholarship will provide James the opportunity to test the Toyota-powered Dallara F308 with KCMG’s Japanese F3 team before the year ends.  At the moment, Munro is in the process of speaking with potential sponsors and will announce his plans for next season in December.

With a commitment to support talented drivers to further develop their career in motorsport has been one of KCMG’s objectives since its inception in 2007. Hence, the team’s involvement in various levels of motorsport disciplines and markedly, the conception of the scholarship for KCMG champions.
