KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) is pleased to announce the first driver in their two-car line up for Asian Formula Renault Series this year. Australian driver Garnet Patterson will represent the Hong Kong-based team as they embark on their maiden campaign in one of the region’s top single seater championships.

The 21-year-old driver, who started racing karts in 2005, rounded off his Australian Formula 3 assault as National Class champion after clinching 10 victories last season. In 2013, Patterson took the New South Wales Formula Race Car Championship title after sealing 12 race wins out of 15 races, delivering 3 lap records for the class and 4 pole positions in the process.

This year, Patterson is set to compete in the full season of Asian Formula Renault, which highlights six events to be held in Zhuhai International Circuit and the F1 Grand Prix tracks in Sepang and Shanghai. In preparation for this new challenge, the Australian driver will head out to Zhuhai on March 16 to test the new FR2.0/13 ahead of the championship’s first event this month.

Garnet Patterson: “I am excited to be racing with a team as highly regarded as KCMG, and look forward to getting up to speed in the new car and vying for the title this year”

John O’Hara, KCMG Deputy Managing Director: “We’re happy to have Garnet join us in our maiden campaign in Asian Formula Renault. He‘s a talented driver and the team is confident that he’ll be one of the drivers consistently fighting at the front of the field throughout the season.”

The first event of Asian Formula Renault will be held at Zhuhai International Circuit from March 20-22. To find out more about the series, visit www.frdsports.com/en/AFR
