KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) is pleased to announce that 2014 Formula Masters China Series champion James Munro will rejoin the team to compete in the full season of FIA Japanese Formula 4 this year. The New Zealander is primed for the new challenge, which entails leading the Hong Kong-based outfit in their maiden campaign in the newly established FIA-sanctioned single seater series in Japan.

Munro’s breakthrough year in the pan-Asian motorsport scene was preceded by a successful season in the 2013 Formula Ford New Zealand where he sealed the championship title after scoring 10 wins out of 15 races. In 2014, the 18-year-old driver became the first recipient of the KCMG Scholarship Award after clinching the Driver’s Title with Cebu Pacific Air by KCMG in Formula Masters.

As Munro transitions to a more competitive motorsport platform in the racing capital of the Far East, his prowess and tenacity will be tested in varying conditions as FIA Japanese F4’s events will held in six different circuits across Japan. Munro will pilot KCMG’s second Toyota powered F4 Dome car in the Japanese championship’s seven-event calendar for 2015.

James Munro: “I’m delighted to be returning again with KCMG. I hope that we can achieve similar success in 2015 as we did last year in Formula Masters. I believe I am with the right team to challenge at the front, and I’m looking forward to the experience of racing in the FIA F4 series.”

Ryuji Doi, KCMG Head of Motorsport: “We cannot think of a better driver for this new FIA campaign and we are confident that James will bring the team the same outstanding results that he delivered in Formula Masters last season. We are happy to have him join us in our new motorsport initiative in Japan, as it has always been KCMG’s objective to provide its drivers an opportunity to race in the most competitive championships around the world.”

FIA Japanese F4’s first event gets underway on April 4-5 at Okayama International Circuit. To find out more about FIA Japanese F4, please visit: www.fiaf4.jp
