KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) shifts its gaze to Japan as FIA Japanese Formula 4’s inaugural event gets underway this weekend at Okayama International Circuit. The newly established national Formula series highlights a 32-car grid and is poised to be one of the most competitive entry-level single seater championships in Japan.

KCMG Scholarship awardee James Munro, who will represent the Hong Kong-based outfit in the full season of the series, will be joined by Toyota Racing School backed driver Yuki Nemoto at Okayama this weekend. Munro and Nemoto participated in the practice sessions held earlier this week, with both drivers delivering impressive performances.

The first event of FIA Japanese F4 will feature a two-race affair on Okayama’s highly technical 3.703km track. After Thursday and Friday’s productive practice runs, the opening rounds of the championship will witness Munro and Nemoto challenge for top results amidst a decidedly competitive field in their blue and white Toyota-powered F4 Dome cars.

James Munro: “I’m really looking forward to kicking off the new season. Its going to be very competitive with so many cars on the grid but the team has been working very well and I hope we can start the series with a few strong results.”

Yuki Nemoto: “ We’ve had good runs during the practice sessions and I’m looking forward to finally race this weekend. It’s going to be an exciting season, with so many contenders in the field! So far, our pace is good and we’ve topped the practice session yesterday. This weekend, we’re eyeing to consistently fight at the front and hopefully finish both races on top of the podium.”

Ryuji Doi, KCMG Head of Motorsport: “The entire team is excited for FIA Japanese F4’s season opener this weekend. We have a strong driver line up and, gauging from the results that we yielded during the practice sessions over the past two days, James and Yuki are two of the drivers to watch in this new national championship. The field is very competitive but we are confident that we can deliver race-winning results at Okayama!”
