Kids com Team KCMG looks to end the Super Formula season on a high at Suzuka International Racing Course by continuing their points-scoring streak.
F1 podium sitter Kamui Kobayashi and 2016 Super Formula champion Yuji Kunimoto return to Suzuka for the second time this season, following four consecutive races in the points as a team including a double top-10 finish last time out at Motegi.
Kunimoto has stood on the Suzuka podium four times in Super Formula, including for KCMG in 2020, while Kobayashi secured third in the Japanese Grand Prix at the track in 2012.
The 5.807-kilometre figure-of-eight circuit is among the most challenging on the Super Formula calendar. From its flowing yet unforgiving S curves, through the technical Turn 11 hairpin, to an exhilarating 130R corner, the track is certain to test even the best of drivers. It’s this uniquely demanding layout that has earned it the title of Japan’s most famous racetrack, and venue of the F1 Japanese Grand Prix.
#7 KAMUI KOBAYASHI
“The double header here at Suzuka gives us two opportunities to deliver, both in qualifying and race. My team and I have been preparing diligently and I’m confident that we can maximise our results at both Saturday and Sunday’s events. I’m looking forward to seeing some improvements in the car.”
#18 YUJI KUNIMOTO
“Suzuka is one of my favourite circuits, so I’m looking forward to the challenge of racing here. There are two races this weekend, so it’s going to be a busy weekend for us, but I know that we are capable of great results on Saturday and Sunday.”
TSUGIO MATSUDA TEAM MANAGER
“We are looking to close out the season with two strong results for both cars, and continue the competitive pace that we’ve had for the past four races. Our performance has been improving throughout the season, and I’m confident we can end the year on a high. Thanks to the team for their hard work in 2023 and to our fans for all their support.”
