KIDS COM TEAM KCMG SCORES POINTS IN BOTH RACES AT MOTEGI

Kids com Team KCMG kept up their solid start to the 2025 Super Formula season, with Nirei Fukuzumi and Seita Nonaka both scoring points at Mobility Resort Motegi.

Tackling Rounds 3 and 4 after top-10 finishes with Kamui Kobayashi at Suzuka Circuit, the team welcomed Nonaka into car #7 as Kobayashi served his World Endurance Championship commitments for Toyota GAZOO Racing.

A strong qualifying from Fukuzumi saw him start Round 3 from seventh on the grid, and he quickly made up a position. Fighting hard to keep up with the leading pack, good work from the team helped the #8 car into fifth, which is where the Japanese driver would finish, picking up six points for the squad.

Nonaka started 19th after a difficult qualifying session, but the 24-year-old had strong pace in the race, quickly making up positions. He crossed the line in 11th, less than a second away from scoring points.

The rookie continued to show excellent speed on Sunday, going from 18th on the grid to eighth at the finish, securing his maiden Super Formula points. Meanwhile, Fukuzumi had a frustrating event, getting caught behind another car following the pit stop phase, only managing 16th.

Super Formula returns next month with the first single-header event of the season, taking on Autopolis on 17-18 May.

#8 NIREI FUKUZUMI

“I’m pleased to pick up my first points of the season with a top-five finish on Saturday. The opener was a well-executed race as we moved up two positions to secure the squad’s best result of the campaign so far. Sunday’s event was trickier as I got caught up in traffic which prevented me from showing my true pace. I feel we’re moving in the right direction with the car and that gives me confidence heading to the next round at Autopolis.”

#7 SEITA NONAKA

“It was an amazing experience to race with Kids com Team KCMG after testing with the squad last year. I struggled with qualifying throughout the event, but the race pace was great, especially on Sunday, where I managed to pick up my first Super Formula points. There was a brilliant atmosphere in the team and I’m thankful for the incredible opportunity they gave me this weekend to further develop my career.”

RYUJI DOI KCMG HEAD OF MOTORSPORT

“The weekend in Motegi was positive as we scored our best result of the season with Nirei coming fifth on Saturday and Seita securing points in eighth on Sunday. We know that there are factors to improve as neither car qualified well throughout the event. Next time in Autopolis is a single-race weekend, so we must prepare well for this event to score big points as we aim to get back onto the podium.”
