Kids com Team KCMG will be looking to continue their solid 2025 Super Formula form this weekend as the championship heads to Autopolis for Round 5.
The event is the first single-header of the season and marks the return to the team for Kamui Kobayashi, who missed the last event at Mobility Resort Motegi due to his World Endurance Championship commitments with Toyota GAZOO Racing.
Nirei Fukuzumi and Kobayashi’s replacement, Seita Nonaka, both scored points at Motegi last month, taking fifth and eighth in Rounds 3 and 4 respectively, extending the squad’s top-10 finishing streak to 19 races.
The team scored points with both cars at Autopolis last year, and will be looking for more of the same on the twisting 4.673-kilometre circuit. An ever-present on the calendar of Japan’s premier single-seater championship, the track provides a unique challenge for teams and drivers thanks to its altitude and elevation changes.
Free Practice 1 kicks the action off at 09:15 local time (UTC+9) on Saturday, before qualifying later that day at 14:00. The race gets underway at 14:30 on Sunday afternoon.
#7 KAMUI KOBAYASHI
“I’m pleased to be returning for this weekend’s action at Autopolis after missing the Motegi round. It was great to see the squad continue to score points in both races as well! We showed good pace at this track last season so hopefully we can deliver a great qualifying result and compete for the higher positions.”
#8 NIREI FUKUZUMI
“We’ve analysed several factors from last time out in Motegi and feel more prepared as a team to push forward. It’s the first single event of the year so we know how crucial practice and qualifying will be as there is no second chances like at a double-header. It’s a local race for me and the only one I can personally drive to, so I’ll aim for a positive result!”
RYUJI DOI KCMG HEAD OF MOTORSPORT
“In Motegi we continued our points scoring run and earned our best result of the campaign so far, finishing fifth. We want to be back on the podium like we were at the end of last season, and will continue to work towards this goal! Rain is forecast for the event which could make for a challenging experience, but I’m confident the team will react well to this and deliver a great result for our fans!”
