KIDS COM TEAM KCMG READY FOR DOUBLE-HEADER AT FUJI SPEEDWAY

Kids com Team KCMG will be aiming to build on its mid-season testing performance at Fuji Speedway this weekend, as the same venue hosts Rounds 6 and 7 of the 2025 Super Formula season.

The squad recorded lap times in the top five on both days of testing last month and will aim to extend its record of scoring points in each round so far this campaign.

Kamui Kobayashi has finished in the top ten in every race he’s competed this season, securing seventh last time out in Autopolis. In the #8 car, Nirei Fukuzumi crossed the line ninth that day to ensure another double points finish for the outfit.

Kids com Team KCMG have fond memories of Fuji Speedway last year where Fukuzumi delivered two excellent pole positions and a second-place finish, while Kobayashi also stood on the podium at the venue.

Located in the foothills of Mount Fuji, the circuit’s main feature is one of the longest straights in motorsport. At a length of 1.475 km, overtaking is likely to happen into Turn 1, before a technical lap follows which will test the drivers throughout.

On-track action begins with Free Practice on Friday from 11:00 (UTC+9) local time. Saturday sees Qualifying start at 9:10 before lights out for Round 6 at 15:15 later that day. The second event of the double-header on Sunday gets underway with Qualifying at the slightly later time of 10:10, with the second race of the weekend beginning at 15:15.

In addition, the Kyojo Cup will be held on the support bill of Super Formula this weekend, with four Kids com Team KCMG cars in action. Miki Onaga will be aiming to continue the strong form she showed in the opening round, taking two second place finishes.

Rami Sasaki scored points in both races last time out, while Kelsey Pinkowski and Reina Amaya will be looking for their first top-10 finishes of the campaign.

#7 KAMUI KOBAYASHI

“This will be my first time competing at Fuji Speedway this season after I was unable to take part in the official test last month. However, I communicated with Yuhi and Rikuto on what to work on during those days, so I’m hopeful that we’ve made further progress. I delivered a good qualifying performance last time out, so I’ll be hoping to repeat that as we look for a strong result.”

#8 NIREI FUKUZUMI

“I haven’t achieved the results I was aiming for so far this campaign, but I think we’ve made some great improvements during the test. With only one practice session, it’s going to be very important to get up to speed quickly and make any adjustments in the limited time we have. I will do my best to replicate our success that we enjoyed here last year.”

RYUJI DOI KCMG HEAD OF MOTORSPORT

“We struggled at Autopolis with our launch off the grid and race pace, but still managed to score points with both cars. The team has been working hard throughout the 10 hours of testing last month to find a solution to this problem. We had some great success here last year with both Nirei and Kamui claiming podiums for the squad and we’ll do our best to be in the top three again this weekend.”
