KIDS COM TEAM KCMG SECURES POINTS ACROSS ALL THREE RACES IN SUZUKA SEASON FINALE

Kids com Team KCMG completed its 2025 Super Formula campaign by scoring top 10 finishes with Nirei Fukuzumi in each event of the triple-header, meaning the squad took fifth in the teams’ standings to ensure its second-best finish since joining the championship in 2010.

The final weekend of the year would be an action-packed one as a third race was added due to Round 10’s abandonment last time out at Fuji Speedway.

Racing action got underway on Saturday with Fukuzumi moving up from eighth to fifth on the opening tour of Suzuka International Racing Course. He would drop back as the contest progressed but still crossed the line in seventh to take points for the team.

On the other side of the garage, Kobayashi enjoyed a great start as well, gaining four places to be 11th by the end of the opening lap. However, he struggled after his pit-stop, only managing to make his way back up to 15th.

The next day saw the rescheduled Round 10 ran as a 19-lap sprint event with no mandatory pit-stop. Fukuzumi lined up in 10th, managing to move forward a position to secure ninth, while Kobayashi improved by four places to come 15th.

The 12th and final event of the 2025 campaign took place on Sunday afternoon as Fukuzumi started in eighth. The Japanese driver would make a couple of great overtakes to elevate himself up to sixth, which is where he would finish the race.

In the #7 car, Kobayashi managed to recover after a tricky opening stint to cross the line in 15th.

These results ensured Kids com Team KCMG of its second-best finish, ending the year fifth in the teams’ standings with 61 points and a podium over the course of 2025.

Preparations for the 2026 Super Formula season get underway on 10-12 December with the Rookie Test at Suzuka International Racing Course.

#8 NIREI FUKUZUMI

“I was pleased to make it through to Q2 for Rounds 11 and 12 but I still had work to do lining up in eighth. We managed to score points across all three events so that was positive even if we weren’t able to break into the top five. This season I was able to seize the opportunity in a wet race to get us onto the podium, but I feel like I have some work to do with my performance in dry conditions. It’s been very difficult to consistently earn points and, in the end, we finished fifth in the teams’ standings. I would like to thank everyone who was involved this season and supported me until the very end.”

#7 KAMUI KOBAYASHI

“I felt confident in Free Practice but struggled in Qualifying as we couldn’t find a balanced set-up. This put us on the back foot for the weekend, and it was a disappointing way to end the season. It was a tough campaign throughout and things didn’t always go our way, but I would like to thank the team, sponsors and fans for their continued support.”

RYUJI DOI KCMG HEAD OF MOTORSPORT

“The 2025 season has come to an end and our three drivers, Kamui, Nirei and Seita, managed to take 61 points, putting us fifth in the teams’ standings and second amongst the Toyota customer teams. I would like to express my gratitude to all the sponsors, staff and fans for their hard work and support throughout the year. We now turn our attention to the Rookie Test where our 2026 preparations will begin at Suzuka on 10-12 December. We’ll continue to make progress, addressing areas of improvement one by one as we aim to become a stronger outfit heading into next season.”
