KC Motorgroup (KCMG) is ready for Rounds 4 and 5 of the 2026 SUPER FORMULA season this weekend as the championship heads to Suzuka International Racing Course.
Last month’s visit to Autopolis saw Kenta Yamashita top Free Practice 2 on Sunday morning, but the race in the afternoon would be postponed due to adverse weather conditions.
As confirmed last week, KCMG’s reserve driver Seita Nonaka will once again be stepping into the #9 car, after racing for the squad during the opening events of the year in Motegi and Autopolis.
Both drivers have enjoyed trips to Suzuka in the past, with Yamashita taking three SUPER FORMULA podiums at the circuit, most recently in 2024, while Nonaka secured pole position and two victories there during his 2024 Super Formula Lights campaign.
KCMG also has fond memories at the track, having scored points in the last 10 SUPER FORMULA races held at the venue, including a podium in the final round of 2024.
Based in the Mie Prefecture, Suzuka International Racing Course is Japan’s most famous motorsport venue, having hosted 36 Formula 1 Grands Prix. Drivers are tested throughout the 5.807-kilometre lap with a variety of iconic corners, such as the Esses, Spoon Curve and 130R. This event will be the first of two double-headers held at the circuit, with the 2026 season concluding there on 20-22 November.
On-track action begins on Friday at 10:50 local time (UTC+9) with Free Practice 1. Saturday kicks off with Qualifying from 09:15, before the first 31-lap race of the weekend starts at 14:45. Qualifying on Sunday begins at the slightly later time of 10:25, with lights out for Round 5 at 14:45.

#8 KENTA YAMASHITA
“We’re expecting rain this weekend at Suzuka, but we performed well in those conditions previously at Autopolis. We’re also getting a better understanding of the car in the dry and we’ll adapt to the weather as it comes. The target for these rounds is to be competing for the top positions.”

#9 SEITA NONAKA
“I’m extremely grateful to be driving for KCMG at Suzuka. This will be my third race weekend this season with the team and I feel like my performance is continuing to improve. My aim is to score my first points of the year at this event.”
