KC Motorgroup Ltd. took a further step forward during the third round of Super Formula at the picturesque Fuji Speedway over the weekend. British driver Richard Bradley carried out an unyielding performance with the aim to secure championship points in Sunday’s race.
Bradley completed free practice and qualifying with encouraging results after setting good pace as well as maintaining an excellent level of high fuel speed in all practice sessions. In line with this development, the British driver’s fuel management was commendable from the onset of the race weekend which opened up the possibility of getting through the race without a fuel stop.
Starting from 18th position on the grid, Bradley’s blue and white #18 Swift FN09 made a flying start and superbly overtook four cars before the first corner. However, an untimely contact between Takashi Kogure of Nakajima Racing and Koki Saga of Tochigi Le Beausset Motorsports caused the latter to haplessly collide against Bradley’s car, forcing the British driver to retire early in the race due to rear end damage.
Despite the unfortunate incident in Fuji, the team maintains its determination to build on the significant headway that it has gained during the previous Super Formula races this season. Bradley, together with the entire KCMG Super Formula squad is looking forward to advance to Motegi with a resolute goal to challenge for positions at the front and gain the team its first championship points.
Richard Bradley, KCMG Super Formula Driver: “In terms of speed, we definitely made progress at this race compared to the others and made a step closer to our target of points. Unfortunately, I made a small error in qualifying but as the field is so close this hurt a lot. During the race, I made a perfect start and there was nothing I could do to avoid the other car, which is a shame as I think we would’ve had a good result. Apart from that, I am happy with the weekend and I look forward to taking the progress we made to Motegi.”
Ryuji Doi, KCMG Japan General Manager: “We started off the race weekend focused on delivering strong results, which I undoubtedly believe we did. Richard is improving more and more as we go further along the season and this Fuji outing proved that we are very near our goal. If not for the unfortunate collision with Saga, I can say that we were in the running to secure very good results last weekend. Motegi is three weeks away and we are more driven to accomplish our target after the progress that we’ve made in Fuji.”
