KCMG caps Super Formula’s championship finale in Suzuka

KCMG rounded off the final championship event of Super Formula with Richard Bradley’s strong showing of skill in changeable conditions at the renowned Suzuka Circuit over the weekend.

The practice and qualifying sessions took place in dry conditions giving Bradley’s Toyota-powered Swift FN09 an opportunity to prove its competitive pace and durability for the forthcoming sprint and endurance races the following day. The British driver eventually completed his qualifying run in nineteenth position.

In contrast to the circuit’s dry state the previous day, Race 1 was held under damp conditions. Despite the unstable state of the track, the British driver’s performance in Japan’s top-level Formula series’ 20-lap sprint race on Saturday morning saw him move up the field from nineteenth to thirteenth position.

Bradley’s mastery of the 5.80km F1 circuit remained consistent as he went on to compete in the 27-lap endurance race later that afternoon. Unfortunately, the British driver was forced to retire on Race 2’s penultimate lap with mechanical issues.

Richard Bradley, KCMG Super Formula Driver: “Although the final race didn’t end the way we wanted to, we had a very good race one and showed good pace to make progress in wet conditions. It is testament to how far we have come as a team. I am now looking forward to making a big push in the last race of the year at Fuji Sprint Cup using everything I have learnt during the year.”

Ryuji Doi, KCMG Japan General Manager: “We would like to thank everyone who supported us in our Super Formula campaign this year, especially the entire crew who have worked with us from the start of the season. It was a pleasure to have worked with Richard and we certainly had an interesting year competing in different circuits around Japan. The team is now looking forward to the 2014 season with the goal of being able to rise to the podium.”

Super Formula’s non-championship season finale, Fuji Sprint Cup, will be held as part of the JAF Grand Prix from November 23-24 at the picturesque Fuji Speedway.
