KCMG heads to Zhuhai for Formula Masters season opener

KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG) shifts its gaze back to China as the team gears up for the opening event of Formula Masters China Series (FMCS) at Zhuhai International Circuit on May 10-12. Akash Nandy and Ronald Wu will represent the team in the first season of Sports Car Project China’s new entry level Formula series.

Nandy and Wu displayed remarkable potential during the pre-season testing in Malaysia in preparation for the upcoming season. FMCS will utilize a 2.0FSI Volkswagen powered FA010 chassis sanctioned by FIA F3 standards.  Recognized as Asian motorsport’s new blood, Nandy and Wu, along with 14 other drivers from across the region will battle it out on Zhuhai’s 4.3 km circuit this weekend.

Supported by Rembawang Group, Nandy is thrilled to be back with the team to compete in FMCS for a full season. The Malaysian driver took part in KCMG’s Formula Pilota China campaign in Ordos last year and concluded the event with strong results. Nandy states “I’m happy to be back in the racing grooves again after a really long wait since I announced that I am racing Formula Masters with KCMG. It will be a very busy year ahead and I will do my best. The season will be great!

Meanwhile, Wu is looking forward to his debut race in FMCS this weekend.  Wu has been anticipating the event since he was officially announced as KCMG’s second driver for the new Asian series. “Seeing the team again was good after testing with them a long time back in January.  We’re very busy with the shakedown of the car. The team is looking strong, and getting stronger. This race will be my debut race in the FMCS so I need to learn and absorb as much as possible and develop the car and myself.

KCMG Deputy Managing Director John O’Hara has been in China for the past two weeks to oversee the FMCS preparations. O’Hara has expressed his confidence in the drivers and believes that the team is likely to contend for top positions this weekend, “The team and I are positive that podium finishes are possible in Zhuhai this weekend. We have two competitive drivers representing us and the entire team is looking forward to this new season working with them.
